Starring as Josie Binks in Ken Davenport's Television Mini Series The Bunny Hole
Mary Ellen began her career at the age of five as Mary Ellen Glass performing for the War Relief Effort at New York City's Madison Square Garden. Within two years she made her Broadway debut as Laura Thornton in The Innocent Voyage and followed with the original Broadway Production of Annie Get Your Gun starring Ethel Merman.
She has performed hundreds of leading and supporting roles throughout her career on Broadway, Off-Broadway and at the best Regional Theater's including: AMT, ArtPark, BAM, Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre, Candlewood, Coachlight, Jones Beach, Maine State, North Shore, Paper Mill Playhouse, Surflight, Walnut Street, Westbury Music Fair, to name a few! She has played Dolly Levi and Mama Rose over a dozen times each and also multiple productions as Mrs. Lovett (Sweeney Todd), Mrs. Paroo (Music Man) and Golde (Fiddler). She was also part of the early "serials" in radio which transferred to early Television, opened for headliners in Las Vegas, toured her own Club Act and also worked in Feature Films including The Producers.
Most recently, she had a featured role in the Indie Film, Thump, and was the subject of the Award Winning Documentary Short Film, Just a Broadway Baby: Mary Ellen Ashley.
She has been featured recently in Voyage LA Magazine and is one of Richard Skipper's featured Dolly's in his renowned Call on Dolly history (see links with photos).
